Donate to the Food Crisis in Ethiopia
Ethiopia is in the middle of its worst drought in decades, and its government announced in December that 10.2 million people would require humanitarian assistance in 2016. Two million people lack safe drinking water, which compromises hygiene, sanitation and immunity, and approximately 400,000 children nationwide are suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Since last year, ChildFund has worked with the Ethiopian government to supply food and edible oil for 74,000 children, pregnant and lactating mothers, and senior citizens, with the help of our local partners and the generous support of donors to our emergency fund.
We also have supplied mattresses, blankets and bedsheets to health centers in the Dilla and Wonago districts, where children with severe acute malnutrition are seeking treatment. We also are working with the United Nations’ Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) at government health institutions in Fentale District to build capacity, help with logistics and procurement, and distribute necessary supplies, so health workers can focus on treating severely malnourished children.
To continue this important, lifesaving work, we need your help. Please donate what you can to our Ethiopia emergency relief fund.
