Welcome
Our Mission
To build and maintain resilient health systems in Nigeria through local and international collaborations with a directed focus on building systems and structures that will support trainings in the delivery of adequate care for children who are critically ill, in an intensive care (ICU) environment.
We need your participation
We have a number of on-going projects including Sister PICU Project, Global Health Electives, Mentorship and Telemedicine. We warmly welcome you to join us: click on Get Involved.
HELPING TO PROVIDE PEDIATRIC CARE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
Sister PICU Project
We are organizing to establish a 5-Bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the campus of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu.
Global Health Electives
The new PICU site and the Children’s Emergency Room at UNTH will serve as a recognized center in Nigeria for Global Health Electives for pediatric residents, emergency medicine residents and pediatric critical care fellows visiting from the US.
Telemedicine
The proposed new PICU site at the UNTH and other sites (teaching hospitals in Nigeria) will be linked to a robust telemedicine program which will provide a platform for one on one live clinical discussions of critically ill patients seeking care at these sites in Nigeria.
Mentorship
We provide structured mentorship program for new college graduates, residents, and other professionals.
Partnerships
The partnership with established PICUs might provide avenues for our colleagues in Nigeria to embark on exchange and short-term training programs abroad for clinical care updates and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.
Making a difference
We aim to make a difference in the lives of families and young children that are critically ill, by providing adequate medical care.
